In Light of Christmas!

Hi again, in light of Christmas I was in the spirit tonight and made up this quick little ATC and just thought I'd share :)

This is a lot more glittery in real life, the background paper is a glitter paper from Franchville and the ornaments and branch is cut out of the same paper.

An Apology

Hello everybody, I have a big apology to make. The last week I have been so full on I've barely been on the computer to catch up on emails and blogs. Given the fact that things  have been so busy and I'd imagine for everybody else this time of year, we have decided to not post any more dares this month until after Christmas.

We didn't get a lot of interest in our last dare and I think its definitely due to the busy time of year. A big thanks to Amanda and Lianne for joining in on our last Eighties dare, because Amanda posted her dare within the given time makes her the winner for that round.

Congratulations Amanda and I'll get some goodies out to you this week. Have a fantastic Christmas and Holiday season everybody and we'll be back in 2009! In the meantime keep up the great work with your ATC's and we'll have some great themes next year.

To get you in the Christmas Spirit here are some nice Christmas pics to get you inspired.

Kryshina's Take

Kryshina finally finished her 80's ATC. She made the backgrounds for a set of 3 but wasn't happy with the other two images. I've just finished my Halloween cards for the forum swap tonight so I'll get on to this one sometime this week. Will get up up as soon as I can.

Kryshina used Bazzill Bling Cardstock on the back overlayed with printed Prima Transparency. Next came the Silver Mesh topped with Felt Lace. Printed picture, dymo label maker and safety pins.

ATC Dare #5 - 1980's Fashion

This fortnight Kryshina came up with the idea of 1980's Fashion! Kryshina was going to post this tonight ended up going out so here I am!...lol

We are still working on our examples so hopefully we will get those up over the weekend. In the meantime, think of some of these for ideas!

This should really bring back memories for those my age group and over...lol

Mullet haircuts, double-belts, off the shoulder tops, apron dresses, lurex clothing, nappy pants, puff-ball skirts, Madonna look-a-likes, slouch socks, stirrip pants, electric blue mascara, teased hair, diamonte earrings, paisley, shoulder pads, waisted pants, baggies, sweatshirts, ripped tops, new wave, punk, leg warmers, court shoes, fishnet stockings, lace ribbons, t-shirts under suit jackets, doc martens, gothic, converse shoes, studded dog collars, denim jackets, bob hair styles, perms, large earrings, swatch watches, bat-wing sleeves.

And what sort of things would you find around the home or in decorating? Rubix Cube, music tapes, vcr videos, 10 speed bicycles and the list goes on.

Hmmm think Madonna, Duran Duran, Olivia-Newton John, Whitney Housten, Cindy Lauper, Paul Young, Dallas, Dynasty etc etc - so get your thinking caps on girls!

Your ATC needs to be uploaded to the Art Room by Midnight Wed 26th November - Good Luck!

A Random ATC

Hi, over the weekend I decided to try out a new technique. I had brought some texture paste from the art shop that comes with glass beads mixed through. I also added fibres to the background and adhered it with modge podge. After this I painted the background with luminarte paint and added a couple of colours of pearlex powders. I added a charm, cut out picture, pressed flower (which keeps falling apart mind you) and also dimensional magic over the words and wings, also a few beads added to the wings also.

I also had this stuff called Mica which I had in my embellishment box for years, I took a piece and stamped it with Stazon ink to put underneath.

My Samples For The 'Quest for a Cure' Dare

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this blog!
If anyone doesn't already know im Lisa's daughter, at the present im working at Scrapbook Studio until early next year when im going to further my studies in make up artistry. I try to do as much Scrapbooking as i can if i have time lol otherwise ive been getting into doing ATC's, i did 2 of the big swaps that we run in our forum, but now im going to concentrate more on contributing to these dares!!

I decided to make a series of three ATC's for this challenge and have called them the 'Cure All' Fairies, they took me a little while to figure out exactly what i was going to do! which happens with pretty much everything i tend to do!! lol

The backround pieces of paper i used are from the new My Minds Eye - Laundry Line, I loved the papers so much when i saw them, I cant resist anything glittery or pink!! ive also used Silver Skeleton Leaves in the backround under the gorgeous pictures i stole from mum! lol.

Good Luck to everyone joining in on this dare!! dedicated to a great cause!! Have Fun!!! :)

ATC Dare # 4 - Quest for a Cure

Hello everybody!

Since its the month of October and Halloween is already sorted for our forum swap I decided since its also Breast Cancer Awareness Month that this would be a great topic.

So the topic for this fortnight is called 'Quest for a Cure' and the only rules are the following:

You must use some pink on your ATC and you must also have the pink ribbon logo (whether it be a picture, actually ribbon etc)

You are to have your submissions uploaded into the Art Room by midnight Wednesday 12th November 2008.

Now I was lucky enough to have these gorgeous pictures so I felt like I cheated...LOL, but the clock was ticking and I didn't have a lot of time. I am off to a Scrapbooking Retreat this weekend so who knows I may just get another one done!

Here is my take:

So, there you go, get your thinking caps on and good luck!

And the Winner is.....

Hello, well Kryshina and I drew the winner this morning for the 'Fantasy' Dare #3 and the winner is:

ELAINE!!! - Congrats. Here is Elaine's take on the Fantasy Dare:

And this fortnight it was really hard to make a pick on which ATC I liked because they were ALL so awesome, you girls definitely put me to shame...LOL

anyway I chose one of Lianne's ATC to show as I loved the techniques she used for her backgrounds, well done Lianne!

A new post will follow shortly with the next dare!

My Fantasy Cards

Hello, I have finished a set of two ATC's as my take on the Fantasy dare. These are pretty basic, the hardest part is finding and resizing the images.

Card #1 - Zenith Warrior (I made these names up by the way....lol)

Credits to cosmosue.deviantart.com for most of the images

Printed background, cut out 4 different images and put together

Card #2 - Princess Warrior

Stamped background and cut from 3 different images

I have a stamp that I would like to use on another one so I'll see how I go over the next few days, good luck everybody!

ATC Dare #3 - Fantasy

Hi, back again with your next dare!

This fortnight we are going to discover FANTASY this is a great subject which leaves alot open to the imagination. Fantasy can be whatever you want it to be but when I think of Fantasy I immediately think of random weird pictures or some of the following:

Myths, Legonds, Fairies, Gargoyles, Dragons, Zodiac, Elves, Magic, Warriors, Mermaids, Unicorns, Wizards, Vampires, Sorcerers, Vikings & Goblins.

OK, so get your Fantasy ATC uploaded to the ART ROOM by Wednesday 29th October under the correct folder >ATC Dares>Dare#3-Fantasy. Also remember if you are interested in joining our swaps or have ATC's that you want to trade check out the other folders in the Art Room or whats going on in the Forum.

Here are a few pics I found on the web to get you thinking, I am still working on my sample which I hope to have up tomorrow, have fun with this one and I DARE YOU!

And the winner is......

ATC Bird Swap

Hi there, our swap last month was the theme 'Birds'. I received lots of cool ATC's and wanted to share mine with you. This month our swap theme is 'Fairytales' which closed today, I will post a pic once the cards have been posted out.

If you are keen to join in on some swaps, check out our forum as the next swap and deadlines should be posted soon, it will be swap #5....Keep tabs on it here.

Here is my Bird ATC, 3 layers of ripped paper (used up some old papers that I probably wouldn't have used for scrapbooking but worked perfectly for this!) Collections chipboard bird (wren) inked and stamped, cuttlebug embossed backround and inked, cuttlebug embossed bird wing, stamped branch and speech bubble.

I am full on tomorrow afternoon and evening teaching a birthday party and christmas card class so I try and fit in the draw when I can. A big thanks to everybody who has participated in the 1950's/Retro ATC Dare the Art Room is looking awesome. Good luck everybody! :)

More 1950 ATC's for inspiration!

Just finished my other two cards as promised. I had to re-do one of them because I decided to try this new technique which was not successful...lol but in the process I found that Dimensional Magic mixes really well with LuminArte Pigment Powders to make up a great paste to use as a nice shimmery paint. Might try this on another ATC sometime.

I decided to try my hand at a 'landscape ATC' this shape doesn't seem that popular but wanted to give it a go, I'm really pleased with it. I stamped the background with black stazon on glossy card, did not colour this, edged the card with a red slick writer pen. Cut out images from 4 different pics found on the internet, resized them and printed on photo paper. I'm getting it down to a fine art resizing the proportions on Photoshop Elements now. I also popped up the 2 main images because they seemed to get a bit lost in the background. The background is suppose to represent a black & white tiled floor.

My second card a bit more basic, printed background and 3 other images, all on photo paper. This was my girl I started out with:

I added a retro backround to funk it up - end result:

Now, off to make a start on my fairytale swap cards for our forum swap! Absolutely no idea what I'm going to do yet...lol

ATC Dare #2 - 1950's/Retro

Here we go, we are up to Dare #2 already! Are you up to it? We are going to go back in time to the Nifty Fifties!

This was the era for retro kitchens, the perfect housewife, the hula hoop was invented, rock & roll, enamelware, jukeboxes, pedal cars & tricycles, Elvis Presley, vinyl records, black & white TV consoles, I Love Lucy TV show, Marilyn Monroe starred in 'Some Like it Hot', Don McLean's 'American Pie', movies like Disney's Cinderella & Alice in Wonderland came out, these were the good ole days!

This era leaves so much open to the imagination for your ATC's, the only hard part is 'Where to start?' Kryshina and I have a couple to get you going which are fairly basic. I am working on a couple more which I will post later on tonight once they are finished.

You must have your ATC's up in the Artroom Gallery by Wednesday night 15th October.

Here's Kryshina's:

Printed background and photo both found on the internet with dimensional magic and beads on the back, also dymo label maker.

Here is one of my attempts, pretty basic but the hardest part about this is finding all the images etc, I have used black glossy card as my background and stamped with lavender stazon ink using some retro circles clear stamps to represent bubbles.

Will post my other two a little later. Good luck and get searching!!
