ATC Dare # 10 - Get Crazy with Metals

Hello everyone, we have a great dare in store for you all this month, metals, metals and more metals! Come on get crazy and show us how creative you can be with various types of metals, trinkets, charms, foils, metal embellishments and more....

Ok, here's the thing...You have to use some types of metals or 'metal look' on your ATC for around 80% of your card. For the other 20% you can use whatever products you like i.e papers, pictures, embellishments etc

Myself and the girls have come up with some ideas to help inspire you and show you an example, here they are:

(I'm pretty sure we have all used alcohol inks for colouring too)

Nickie's take:
Nickie has used chipboard, inks, embossed impressions, mirror embellishment and vintage pictures to add gorgeous charm and a beautiful soft array of colours.

My Take:
Using some old metal rim embellishments, I've covered with paper, added charms from Artgirlz and used metal on the back which I've embossed on the cuttlebug and coloured with alcohol ink. Also used were bronze metallic rub ons.

Lianne's take:
Lianne has embossed her background on the cuttlebug, coloured I presume with alcohol inks, wired a little metal fence, and hand made metal flowers using punches for a fabulous effect.

The colours are just stunning in this one.

Ok, so hope they give you a head start of inspiration.

Please upload your completed ATC to the Art Room under the folder ATC Dares # 10 by Friday 4th September 09 to be in the draw for a cool prize. You can also follow the threads in the Forum HERE plus check out out forum ATC swaps while your there!

Can't wait to see all your creations

Thanks

Lianne's Contribution

Hi everyone,

As promised, here is Lianne's contribution to the Favourite Quotes Dare!

Lianne has been very creative and etched her quote into a layer of Gesso then rubbed paint over in layers. This is very effective and something completely different.

Thanks for a great inspiring card Lianne!

ATC Dare #9 - Favourite Quotes!

Hello again, yes I am late once again but finally got my example ATC finished last night.

Thanks to all those that have joined in to ATC dares in the past few months! This time we decided to make it easy for you. You basically can do anything you want this month, the only catch is you have to have at least 'one' favourite quote on your ATC somewhere.

You have one month to complete this dare so you have plenty of time. Please remember to upload your finished ATC to the ATC Dare #9-Favourite Quotes Folder in the ART ROOM by Tuesday 21st July 2009.

You will also find a thread in the forum if you want to show anyone your ATC or talk about it.

Lianne is still working on her contribution but in the meantime hopefully Nickie and I can inspire you with ours!!

Here is Nickies......she has a gorgeous image in the background with a fabulous 2Crafty chipboard window embossed and popped up over her image. She has also added a Collections butterfly, sprayed roses and quote, isn't is just adorable?

Here is my example, I decided to add an additional piece to my ATC to fit in the quote. The main body of the ATC is the required measurement. I have double stamped the background with music and tape measure stamps, stamped the background for the corset with an dictionary print and stamped the corset. I have also added some german scrap coloured with alcohol inks along the top edge. I couldn't quite fit the quote in how I hoped, trust me to pick a long one!!

Thanks for looking, good luck with your ATC's and I'll be back to add Lianne's ATC very soon.

Feel free to leave a comment!

thanks, Lisa :)

A Winner picked for 'Places' Dare!

Hi Girls,

Sorry better late than ever. Wow what a full on week with phone calls coming through with weekend pass holders for Senz ringing to book their classes, the phone in the shop has been a hotline!

We have some really cool new products that can be used on your ATC's instore now. A fabulous range from Collections Elements, not just the new products but still some older goodies too. Some awesome coloured metal sheets from 10 Seconds Studio, fabulous for ATC's, can be embossed, coloured with alcohol inks etc. I'll have to make up a sample to show you, you will love it! Don't know anyone else in NZ that stocks this either. They also have some stunning embossing moulds which I'm going to bring in also.

Nickie our contributor has made up a stunning project that she is displaying as a sample in the shop, will have to photograph it tomorrow to show, its absolutely gorgeous!

Ok, I have been on the random number generator and here is the list I prepared:

Our Contributions!

Hi everyone, sorry its taken so long but finally here are our contributions (I held things up a bit with finishing mine off!)

First of all I'll start of with Nickie's as she finished her's first. I love this, she has used these adorable new little rose buds we just got instore, take a look:

TICKETTY BOO - BY NICKIE MOUNCEY

and here is Lianne's. She has used loads of techniques on this one including stitching and glazing over map for her background, then cracked it, what an awesome effect!

AFRICA - BY LIANNE GRAY

and finally here is mine. A bit of a weird one I must say. I like to make ATC's outside the square so to speak but a real pain when it can't fit into a folder! My background measurement is measured around the perimeter if the chipboard background. Images sourced off the internet and resized etc. Originally I had a plan to use my new Hero Arts Russian Doll stamps but couldn't find where I put them! Typical

I used German Scrap strips for the background and had to resort to Peelcraft for the lettering...lol to tie it together.

I did not know Russia was such a beautiful place until I started looking up images of the cities etc, I really enjoyed the exercise.

MOSCOW - BY LISA WALKER

Thanks for looking, hope you are all busy working on your take on this dare! :)

ATC Dare #8 - Places & Their Icons

Hello everybody, I'm back again to post your new dare!

This month we decided on Places & their Icons! Now its up to you to choose how you do this and whether you want to just focus on the place or use one or some of their icons to give the clue on what place you are trying to convey.

For example: You might want to focus on a place with pictures or words about France, Egypt, England etc etc, or you might want to create a card with some icons that can represent a place, for example: Holland - Clogs, Paris - Eiffel Tower, Paeroa - L & P, Auckland - Sky Tower, New Zealand - Kiwi, England - Queen etc etc

The only rule is you have to have the name of the place somewhere on the card plus it has to be a place that everybody knows of ie. Town, City, Country, Famous Icon etc, cannot be your local coffee shop or beach house..lol

Here is an ATC I found online to give you an idea: Here is the link to where I found this, she has some other great ATCs to check out, look HERE

I should be able to get my ATC example done tomorrow night, I have an idea in mind. I know has an idea up her sleeve and I pretty sure Nickie and Kryshina will do one too so keep watch. I'll post in the forum when we have posted our examples also.

Ok, so remember to post your ATC in the ART ROOM under ATC Dares, I have set up a folder in there. You have until Sunday 7th June to complete your ATC and post in the gallery.

Good Luck everyone, talk soon :)

Have some awesome ATC's in the gallery for this month's dare already, keep them coming girls, this is a fun topic. Also if you haven't already, remember to check out the forum for our latest ATC swap, not sure if there are any spaces left but the theme this month is 'Black & White'. Lianne finished her second contribution last night and so did Kryshina.

Here is Lianne's:

She has stamped the background with one of the new Prima Brick Wall Clear Stamps, stamped the house with one of the new Hero Arts Wood Grain Rubber Stamps & Collections Chipboard Bird. Isn't it adorable?

Here is Kryshina's:

Kryshina has used some of the new patterned papers from Webster's Pages & Prima plus some ink and bling.
How cute is this little birdhouse?

House Contributions!

Lianne and I had loads of fun creating these ATC's. Lianne has another one in the works that I should be able to post tomorrow. I have a couple more ideas in store also, we share these over the next few days.

Nickie and Kryshina are also currently working on theirs too.

Here is Lianne's Take using fabric and stitching:

Here is my take, tried to get a vintage feel with this one, the wings were added for something random, absolutely no meaning at all....lol

Embossed background, painted frame & window, cut out paper and images, german scrap, brad.

ATC Dare #7 - Miniture Houses

Well, girls the next dare is quite a simple one really but so many ideas and options can go with this theme. My mind is filled and already I can see me wanting to make more than one!

I have called this dare 'Miniture Houses' solely because ATC's are small so don't read anything more into it, the theme is basically Houses. So anything you can think of to do with this, go for it, its wide open!

Now also remember to think outside the square literally, maybe your card will be a house shape? Maybe it will host a little cottage, maybe a bird house, maybe something modern. Whatever you want as long as it resembles some type of house is fine by me.

Now I'm making my sample tonight and will be posting it up here tomorrow, we will post the contributors ATC's also as soon as they come in.

Once again its simple. Upload your ATC to the correct folder in the gallery HERE (making sure you sign up as a member first if you haven't already) I will make the appropriate folder. There will also be a thread in the FORUM also if you want to talk about it or have any questions. Otherwise simply email me at inspired2scrap@hotmail.com

On both Forum and Gallery simply scroll down to find the ATC's threads.

You have until Sunday 10th May to get your ATC's in so that leaves you around 3 weeks.

Good luck everyone and looking forward to seeing those entries!

thanks, Lisa

Posting Finally!!

Sorry everybody, yes I know this is soooo late! With going away to SIA, catching up back at the shop plus Easter things have run behind.

Ok, I'm going to get my daugher's to do the draw:

Here is Ngaere's entry:

Nickie's

ATC Dares is back! - ATC Dare #6

Hello everybody, yes yes I know its been a very long break for ATC dares! Well we have recovered from the holidays, kids are back at school and you know what that means....yay more time to make ATC's!!!

Last year things did get a bit hectic for me running this site fornightly on top of our website and store. So we have decided this year to run the dare once a month. Like me I guess most of you scrapbook, make cards or other mixed media or altered projects so it can be hard to fit everything in sometimes. I think to produce at least one ATC per month is very manageable for most of us.

Other exciting news is we have the lovely Nickie Mouncey now working full time in the shop and she is also in to ATC's! So thats great news for us because she has agreed to be a contributor too!

Ok, to get the ball rolling for the year I have come up with this cool theme which I really enjoyed making. I have done a couple of takes on this, completely different than the idea I had in mind when I first started out! Anyhow am very pleased with my first one:

Ok, the theme for the month - MARCH 09 ATC DARE #6 is: MASQUERADE!

Now you can do any interpretion of this, I have just done the typical stereo-type, but there are heaps of ideas out there. You have until midnight 31st March to get you dare up on the gallery. Since this is the 1st dare for the year I have a nice prize in mind so come on girls, get your thinking caps on and join in. This is one way of getting some ATC's done to fill that album!

For those newbies out there this is what you need to do:

For full info click back on our side bar to September in the Archives and read up all about what an ATC is, the standard size for your card must be 2.5" x 3.5" generally most are portrait but you can make landscape too. Once you have made your card scan it or take a photo and I generally downsize mine to 400 pixels in height, then upload this to our ARTROOM which is linked to my online website and shop. There will be the appropriate folder for this month where you can post your ATC too. Also check out our FORUM as we also have ATC swap running most months. Swaps are a great way to get your collection of ATC's going fast.

Any queries feel free to email me at inspired2scrap@hotmail.com

Ok, so now you have all the info here are my two takes on this theme:

For both of these I have embossed and stamped the backgrounds using UTEE, same with the chipboard pieces on the 2nd one. Not sure if I should have glittered the wing on the 2nd one but anyhow its done now. I resized all pictures and by fluke the masks just happened to fit the eyes of both pictures so I was quite pleased about that.

Looking forward to seeing all your creations and good luck! I'll add an update soon with details of the prize!
